3 Certified practitioners (including field instructors) should undertake at least 15 hours of
continuing professional development every year. This may consist of preparing talks, research,
or attendance at clinics.
4 Certified Practitioners will normally be listed on the UKNHCP website and may provide brief personal details and details of their trimming business (if any) for inclusion on the website.
5 Membership of UKNHCP will run from June in each year, and a membership fee of £50 for full members and £10 for associate members is due in advance in each year. Members may be suspended or expelled as the result of a complaints' procedure investigation. Fees will be pro-rated for members joining partway through the year.
Complaints procedure
1 If any client, or any other person involved in the horse's care, is unhappy with any aspect of a practitioner's professional conduct, they should in the first instance raise the matter with that practitioner.
2 If the complainant is not satisfied with the practitioner's response, and with any steps taken to resolve the complaint, they may complain in writing to UKNHCP, using the contact details below.
3 The UKNHCP board of directors will investigate the complaint within one month of receiving the complaint, and will respond in writing to both the complainant and the practitioner.
4 If the UKNHCP board of directors is satisfied (in its absolute discretion) that the practitioner has materially breached the terms of this code of conduct, it may impose sanctions on the practitioner, including suspending the practitioner’s membership, or in the most serious cases, expelling the practitioner from UKNHCP. The board's action will be based on a majority vote, and any director who has a conflict of interest is ineligible to vote.
5 The UKNHCP board of directors is responsible for upholding this code of conduct. If the board suspects that any practitioner or student has breached this code of conduct, the board should investigate the breach promptly, and may take whatever steps it believes appropriate (including suspending or expelling the practitioner for the most serious breaches).
UKNHCP
1 Students and Friends may not use the UKNHCP name or logo. In particular, students must not advertise themselves as “UKNHCP trainees” or similar, and may not use UKNHCP promotionally.
2 UKNHCP is a self-regulating governing body for natural hoofcare practitioners. It is a limited company run by a board of directors and accountable to its shareholders. All certified practitioners are eligible to be shareholders, subject to UKNHCP’s articles of association.
3 Students and certified practitioners are expected to have the highest professional standards and to behave in a way which upholds the reputation of UKNHCP at all times.
