You will be required to attend a one day course as an introduction to the application of natural hoof care. This course may be taken before or after Step 5.
Through this course you will develop an understanding of;
• assessing horse soundness before trimming
• keeping records.
• the UKNHCP professional code of conduct.
• horse and hoof handling skills.
• how to assess the horse’s gait as it moves.
• assessing hoof health through structure and form.
• using and handling a rasp.
• how to apply a mustang roll on a live hoof.
• basic hoof terminology.
• assessing hooves according to strengths and weaknesses.
