You will be required to attend three mentorship strings, each of two days. These days do not have to be consecutive, meaning that you could spend one day with an instructor and then return at a later date to complete that mentorship. You will choose a different UK instructor for each mentorship. The mentorships will involve you observing and trimming a variety of barefoot horses.
These days will help you develop an understanding of;
• the application of natural trimming methods on individual hooves.
• the holistic and analytical nature of hoof care.
• keeping records.
• handling horses and hooves.
• how to assess the horse’s gait as it moves.
• the relationship between diet and performance on bare hooves.
• the relationship between environment and performance on bare hooves.
• the role of hoof boots in protecting and developing bare hooves.
• transitioning hooves for successful barefoot
performance.
