The UKNHCP is currently involved a number of research projects:
Study into hoof capsule distortion
This study is looking at the relevance of growth rings or ‘event’ lines as an indicator of change within the hoof capsule.
Further information will be added in the next few months.
Study into improving inflammation and lesions of the navicular bursa and digital deep flexor tendon
Project Dexter is a research programme into “navicular syndrome”, deep digital flexor tendonitis and non-specific caudal hoof pain
With the help of Jeremy Hyde, at Eqwest Veterinary Hospital and Professor Peter Clegg at the University of Liverpool, UKNHCP are running a research project which aims to evidence the effect of the Rockley Farm rehabilitation programme, and whether it is more successful than traditional treatments, such as remedial shoeing, for horses with the same problems.
